DIRGE: THE ULTIMATE EDITION ACTION FIGURE

Yes. You are correct. The object immediately to your right is the coolest thing ever created. After nearly six years, Dirge has finally been cast in vinyl, and packaged as a real, honest-to-god toy. My inner 12-year-old is having an aneurysm.

Dirge is the very first toy to be released from DEVIL'S DUE POP, the heretofore top-secret branch of Devil's Due. Dirge stands 8" tall, with 6 points of articulation, and comes with his trusty (and detachable) shovel. Click below to pre-order now, and cause your existing action figures to cower in mortal terror.

DIRGE VS. JAMES

After no less than three years' of delays, scheduling conflicts and procrastinating, I was finally able to secure nearly 30 (count them, THIRTY) minutes of spare time to chat with everyone's favorite voice-over artist; the man behind the skull, himself - Geoff Edwards.

Click on over to Geoff's brand new site for a behind the scenes peek at his studio, the Xombie development process, and maybe a hint or two of things to come.

REPORT: COMIC-CON 2007

My god. Comic-Con 2007 was both hellish and humbling. 130,000 + people made it nearly impossible to, say, walk. Or move without stepping on the toes of a costumed anime character, or slightly malproportioned Wonder Woman. Fortunately, I had a booth to sit / hide in!

Big time thanks to Devil's Due for allowing me to invade their space. I had the honor of meeting a ton of Xombie fans over the course of the con, as well as doing custom sketches, signing comics, and just generally having a wonderful time with a very large, very diverse group of nerds. Thank you to everyone who came by to say hello, grab a sketch or buy a comic.

Be sure to check out some pictures from the con, and stay tuned for a few large-scale announcements in the coming weeks.

AND THE CROWD GOES WILD

Hey guys! The reviews are in. And guess what?

"This is the most fun I’ve had reading a comic in a long time. There are parts of this book that are just flat out funny. I’m reminded of the Wachowski’s Frankenstein series, but with way more humor by way of an acid trip gone wild."

- Guy Copes (

"Someone call The Enquirer. I'm not sure the world is ready for this. Then again, maybe we are. I admit, they got me. I am completely hooked on this one. I know that the first issue hasn't hit the streets, but please tell me that this is a monthly book."

- Chris Dooley (

"The art is dynamic, exciting, and most importantly – fun! Xombie is a fun book. If you’re tired of the dark, depressing books out today, or just want a little break from the death and suffering – Xombie is the book for you."

- Itai Rosenbaum (
Full Review @ SilverBulletComics.com)

"It’s the execution of the subject matter that differs and makes it unique. Unlike so many other examples of its genre this first issue does not rely on excessive gore or shock value to tell its story. Is it possible to have an all-ages zombie comic book? If it is then Xombie fits the bill. I find myself in the quite bizarre position of wanting to use words like "charming" in relation to a comic about a world infested with rotting, walking corpses. But given that Zoe and Dirge’s friendship seems to be the very heart of the book, perhaps "charming" isn’t that inappropriate after all."
